4. Paris, France "[A] visit to the Chateaus in the Loire Valley area and/or some wine tasting in the Countryside!"

Lastminute.com reviewer Jane shares, "Paris was great as always! The hotel was in a lovely quiet area full of quaint cafes and buzzing restaurants come night. I was walking distance from just about everything as well! De-stressing tips: The best thing to do is to eat and drink like a Parisian in front of a cafe with a glass of wine watching the world go by! Food experience: There are so many good food options in Paris. I'd recommend making use of lunchtime set menus which are the best values. Fill up with several courses and then enjoy some simple wine and cheese for dinner. Sightseeing places: Musée D'orsay was fabulous. An amazing space filled with amazing content. Make sure to get a picture with the clock on the top floor. For a more intimate museum experience, make sure to visit Musée the l'Orangerie to see the water lilies by Monet, and also the Rodin museum which is a beautiful building with lovely gardens. Solo experience: There are some worthwhile day trips from Paris. Monet's house and garden with the famous water lily pond are located in Giverny - about an hour away from Paris. Of course, there's also Versailles which is a must visit. However, for a more extensive day trip, make sure to book a visit to the Chateaus in the Loire Valley area and/or some wine tasting in the Countryside! I liked: The Parisian wining and dining scene! And the second to none museums!"

6. Funchal, Portugal "Spent half a day on a trip to Nunn's Valley where it was warm and sunny..."

Lastminute.com reviewer Alan shares, "The weather was good although it is an Island with micro-climates. Spent half a day on a trip to Nunn's Valley where it was warm and sunny but only slightly higher up in the hills you were in damp cloud and couldn't see a thing. Probably not a place to go for a sea and sandy beach though. The people were friendly and in the main spoke some English. There is a good choice of restaurants although as a single traveller I found the food in the hotel perfectly adequate. The nightlife is not so great I would imagine, although I am of an age where I am quite happy to just enjoy a drink in the hotel bar. Travelled alone: Yes, all the time. I love it. Places you saw: Nunn's Valley and the area around Funchal. Liked most on the trip: The scenery."
