Lastminute.com reviewer Stefan adds, "If you visit Amsterdam, visit Zaandam as well, you won't regret. Romantic experience: The boat trip in Giethoorn is quite romantic, just get the covered, wooden boats as they have cosy tables and sliding windows ( in case it rains ) and enjoy the view.
I liked: The hard work people at Ecomare put into taking care of sea life. The Dutch people as they are very kind, helpful and respectful and their country as it is quite homeless-free, clean and well maintained. This comes from someone who visited 16 European countries thoroughly. We booked a room at Inntel Hotels, famous for its unusual shape. It is affordable, too, booked a Junior Suite with a very spacious room, sauna jetted bathtub and executive bedding for about £140. All Junior Suites are at the top, 12th floor so the view is quite nice. Giethoorn ( 1H boat trip ) and Texel ( 15min by ferry from then Helder ) are amazing cities to visit nearby Amsterdam ( a car is required ) On Texel you can visit the famous lighthouse and Ecomare, a seal sanctuary with different species of animals rescued from the ocean where they are treated and taken care of before releasing back into the ocean. A e-vignette is required for parking on the little island of Texel, but paid parking are available in some places. Check more info about the ferry and e-vignette on Teso website where you can book the ferry and buy the e-vignette, you just pay and register your car's license plate as the gates open automatically once they read your licence plate, really smart.
De-stressing tips: Enjoyed the jetted bathtub at Inntel Hotels in Zaandam, the 1-hour boat trip at Giethoorn, the Sightseeing from the lighthouse and the sea life at Ecomare at Texel. Just driving itself from Amsterdam to Giethoorn is relaxing as the farms and country life in general in Netherland is amazing. Gouda cheese says everything.
Sightseeing places: Giethoorn, Zaandam and Texel in Netherland, Brussels, Dinant and Brugge in Belgium."
