Lastminute.com reviewer Lisa shares, "We really enjoyed Istanbul. In late July the mornings were 24 degrees, midday to 4 o'clock it was 30 degrees with the evenings a comfortable t-shirt weather. There were a huge number of small Turkish restaurants serving typical Turkish dishes. We loved Turkish village breakfast with lots of little dishes. Pide (Turkish bread) with humus and olives. Fresh grilled fish, clay pot dishes, sizzling hot plats of lamb and beef and minced meat mixed with pistachio nuts, lightly spiced. Pomegranate juice and Effes beer, Turkish coffee and baclava. Don't miss Mado ice cream! A museum pass for 220 tl is great value. Must see Hagia Sophia, Gulhane, Topkapi Harem and Dolmabache Palace. Get an Istanbul kart for the tram, ferry funicular bus and metro. Get a ferry, 3tl each way, to Eyup/Golden Horn from Karakoy.
Sightseeing places: We went to the Blue Mosque, Hagia Sophia, Gulhane Park and Topkapi Palace, the Grand Bazaar, the Spice Bazaar, The archaeological museum, the Islamic Art museum, The Islamic Science and History museum, Gulhane Park, Galata Bridge, The Museum of Innocence, Istanbul Modern, Eyup and Dolmabahce Palace. I would recommend the Harem in the Topkapi Palace, Hagia Sophia. The Dolmabahce Palace - but be prepared to queue.
Romantic experience: Terrace roof top restaurants and cafes are romantic. Get there early or book online for a beautiful view over Istanbul.
I liked: I enjoyed soaking up the atmosphere of Istanbul life. Exploring from street to street. Sitting, talking with a drink a tea or coffee and baclava."
