The weather was mostly dry with a couple of light showers. The atmosphere of the canals was very romantic – the water and the falling autumnal leaves were very peaceful and lovely. All the sights were lovely... We also just enjoyed walking and soaking up the architecture and sitting in the canal-side cafes.
Went during autumn... the scenery was picturesque as the season started to change. It is really beautiful and really helps set a romantic scene. Plenty to do, went to Van Gogh Museum and Rijksmuseum and would definitely recommend these along with the botanical gardens. I liked the Van Gogh museum and the picturesque scenery during autumn.
Weather was perfect, autumn feel was perfect for the city's aesthetic. The nightlife was fantastic and despite what I had heard, everyone we encountered was really nice. I highly recommend Chapeau Rouge in Old Town, the vibe was really eclectic... I fell in love with the city and the goulash – I can't recommend it enough! I saw Prague Castle, Old Town, New Town, Jewish Quarter, Beer Museum, Golden Lane, Hanging Sigmund Freud Statue and Communism. The fact that the city is fairly small you could walk around most place which in itself was quite romantic.
Munich in autumn was magical. The streets were covered in autumn leaves and the weather was fresh, sunny and dry, and was perfect for strolling around the museum quarter or for sitting outside one of the cafes with a coffee and a pretzel. I found the tree-lined Munich streets which were golden from the fallen leaves romantic. I stayed in H'otello in Fallmerayerstrasse, which was in a laid back but stylish part of town, with boutique shops, restaurants and cafes all easily reached. I visited the Pinakothek, which is one of the most renowned museums in Germany, with a large collection including Goya and Manet.
Barcelona was fantastic, late October and mid 20°C temperatures and blue skies. We would highly recommend Barcelona for an autumn break. We spent one day walking the Gothic part of the city and visiting Sagrada Familia. We took a tour out of Barcelona on the second day to the monastery at Montserrat and local vineyard which was excellent. The last day we visited the Olympic Park, the Montjuic Castle and took the Transbordador Aeri del Port cable car from there to the beach area. I liked the variety of sightseeing opportunities in and around this great city combined with excellent food and drink.
Weather was perfect, not a cloud in the sky. City was clean and safe and was a wonderful autumn break. I climbed a mountain overlooking the whole of Rome. I saw Coliseum, Spanish steps and Trevi Fountain. Having a champagne overlooking Rome in a beautiful park [was romantic].
