Visited the Cotswold Country Park, the lake and the beach. Although it was cold and windy we managed a pedalo ride. Went into Cirencester town on Sunday. Really lovely town though. Had a lovely lunch at The Crown.
Barrow was the perfect place to stay as we had a car to go to the lakes during the day and didn't have to pay the Lake District prices. We had a great stay in Barrow... I saw Furness Abbey, Wray Castle, Lake Windemere, the Dock Museum and the safari zoo. My romantic experience: Sat at Furness Abbey in the sunshine enjoying a picnic. I liked everything.
Trams were great for getting around the city, the botanical/Peace Gardens were beautiful and getting to the peaks could not be easier! I saw the Botanical gardens and Peace Gardens. The Peak District walks are a must! The spa was a great touch, along with the option of getting into town easily by taxi to go to various bars and restaurants the city had to offer.
It rained a lot but we were still able to do a fantastic walk up to Dunkery Hill. We went to the Tarr Steps and walked up Dunkery Hill. I liked the views of Exmoor National Park. We ate at a local pub which had good pub food and not too pricey.
We spent the day travelling around the lakes and then in the evening back at the hotel, very peaceful... I saw Ullswater. Sitting at the top of the lake [was romantic]. I liked the views, the calm and peace.
Pretty town with easy access to the lakeside and beyond. I saw the Bridge House, the lake, Rydal Cave, Wray Castle [and took] a circular lake boat trip. A stroll along the lake in the evening [was romantic].
The scenery in the area of the lakes was fantastic. Ambleside is quieter than its neighbours Windemere and Coniston... I saw Windemere, Coniston, Grasmere and Keswick. Walking round the village of Grasmere and stopping for refreshments at the local hostelry [were romantic].
